Patch Tests - Why it's important & how it affects you

May 21, 2017

An essential & very straightforward process that could save you from a nasty reaction

(see the girl in the photo!) & the resulting discomfort.

A skin patch test should be carried out at least 48 hours prior to your first treatment & if there have been any changes in your medical history, pregnancy, diabetes, menopause, if you are sensitive or reactive or if there has been a 12 month interval since your last treatment then another test should be done.

You can pop in any time to get the patch test & fill out our patch test record book. We will apply the mixture behind your ear or in the crook of your elbow and advise that a positive reaction would be itchy, red & irritated skin. If the test is negative then you will feel nothing & the treatment would go ahead. It's not good enough to have been elsewhere for this test as they may have used a different product from an alternative manufacturer.

Besides your safety & comfort, the insurance requirements for this treatment are a mandatory skin patch test which means that without this you will not be covered under the salons insurance.

When all these processes are in place, eyelash & brow tinting are wonderful treatments that give a natural enhancement to your face. The treatment for the lashes is usually performed every 6-8 weeks or longer whereas the brows tend to fade sooner and may require more regular tinting.
